The S.P.F.F.B.F.  provides its members with educational grants, so that they get the most up to date information pertaining to fire prevention, education and burn awareness programs. This knowledge is then passed on to our residents and our department.

Fire Prevention Education and Community Outreach

2) Burn Survivor Support: new program being to help burn survivors attend the Phoenix Societies World Burn Congress Convention. Also, we continue to support families of children and firefighters who have been burned and are being treated at the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center.
The S.P.F.F.B.F. also conducts a fire prevention Fair during Fire Prevention Month every October, along with partnering with the our Fire Marshals Division our Fire other Fire Prevention and Burn Awareness Programs for our residents. The goal of our efforts is to educate our residents with an emphasis on the children of Stratford about the dangers of fire and Burn injuries.

3. Smoke detector and Anti-Scald Program: Inspect  the homes of residents , testing, installing batteries or replacing smoke detectors if needed. Testing the hot water of residents homes and giving anti scald devices to our residents who are in need. This program is free to all of our residents.

Support ot the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation's

Children's Burn Camp

We continue to support the Children's Burn Camp through our fundraising efforts. Grants are provided to pay for specific items in camp and work parties. Additional grants are donated to the Atlantic Regional Firefighters Burn Foundation,  a foundation founded by firefighters, firefighter burn foundations and other emergency service providers from the Atlantic region, who are committed to funding burn camps.

Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center

We support this burn center with specific funding requests. Also, we are working with this burn center on a capital construction project, which will entail the building of a waiting room and family suite. This suite will allow families the opportunity to stay close to the burn center while  their loved one is being treated.
